PSTAP - Around the State

On September 21, 2019, the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Society of Tax and Accounting Professionals held a meeting at the Best Western Hotel, Harrisburg, PA. Buxmont Chapter was represented by Chapter President Michael Davis and Vice Presidents Tami Polichetti and Paul VanVreede. Also representing Buxmont were State Vice President Clare Shaw and Past State Presidents Richard Brasch, Jr. and Lamont Anderson.

Legislative Report

PSTAP State President Linda Chicano reported that our Government Consultants, McNees, Wallace & Nurick are doing a terrific job monitoring legislative proposals in the Pennsylvania House and Senate. There are current issues being tracked regarding proposed tax on retirement plans, property tax reform and increases to the Earned Income Tax. The PSTAP Board is planning an expanded Day at the Capitol in May 2020 which will include bus transportation to Harrisburg for members attending.

Annual Meeting

The 2020 Annual Meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, June 14, 2020 through Wednesday, June 17th. The event will be held in Cape May, NJ at The Grand Hotel.

Executive Director Report

Sherry DeAgostino, PSTAP Executive Director reported that members will be presented with a free Carry Bag for all attendees at the upcoming 1040 seminars. Several new member benefits were recently introduced. Discounts will be offered on the Yeager CPA review course, and 4Imprint is offering a 10% member savings on all orders of imprinted items. Members recruiting a new member will be awarded a FREE Seminar of their choice.

State Board of Accountancy

There is a proposal under consideration to allow “carry-over” of CPE hours in excess of 80 hours to the subsequent reporting period. The 2 year CPA License renewal period ends December 31, 2019. Members are reminded that the required CPE is based on the services you provide.

If you DO provide attest services, 24 hours of A&A, 4 hours of Ethics and 52 hours of professional development, total of 80 hours is required.
Licensees who provide attest services , prepare or help prepare any Compilation, Review or Audit now have a minimum of 24 A&A CPE requirements (formerly 16 hours).

If you DO NOT provide attest services, 76 hours professional development and 4 hours of Ethics, total of 80 hours is required.
Licensees who don’t provide attest services have no A&A credit requirement (formerly 16 hours).
